Post-Production

I edited the film by putting together the scenes as I went along filming so instead of doing daily's here is my post-production process from start to finish.

Putting The Film Together
The first scene edited was Scene 3 as it was the quickest and simplest scene to edit pre-VFX. The Visual Effects weren't put on until later in the process. The next scene edited was Scene 6, this was when the decision was made to refilm because the shots I thought were going to make it look more unique just didn't look good so I left that to the side for the refilming to be done. Scene 7 was the next to be put together and the last from the first day of filming. It came out really well the different shots of this went well together, it took a second opinion from Richard to get a shot change sync to work well but overall it came out good.

The next set of editing was the refilmed Scene 6, this time the editing went much easier because the shots came back a lot better. The next scene was Scene 8, this edit was easy other than not being able to use a shot that I planned to for a connection into the next but I had a contingency that made it so the film could still work and not have to do any other filming for it. This was the editing done from the second filming day. The next day was Scene 2, editing this scene was nice and simple as it only took 3 shots, more shots were filmed but they weren't needed.

Next was 3 more scenes, 1, 5 & 7. Editing Scene 1 wasn't difficult but it had its ups and downs during the process. Framing of some of the shots weren't great so a couple of shot changes were to make comprimise with what I had to work with. Editing Scene 5 was really easy as it was only 2 shots so I just had to put them in place and the scene was done. Scene 7 was a more tricky scene to edit because of the emotion of it. It took many shots to film and 4 shots to create the scene, the main focus of the shot used most of the scene is to show the emotion of Charlie/Kieran.

Scene 9, is the next scene to be put together, the visuals were put together nicely but there were some audio issues that were fixed using audio from other shots, thankfully these shots did sync so it worked nicely and doesn't look too obvious that it's dubbed.

The final scene to be edited was Scene 4, this was another like Scene 9 with good visuals but poor audio, this wasn't as easy to fix so instead I had to have Kieran and Bobby re-read their lines and do some ADR to fix the problem.

Creating The Visual Effects
Dream Vignette
The first Effect I created was the dream vignette for the most part of the film, this was very simple to create on After Effects:
First I made a white square:

Used the layer mask tool to create the oval shape:

Then finally feathered the mask to give it the glow effect:

 On-Screen Texts
To create the texts I used this website, http://ifaketext.com/ after the texts were created, I used photoshop to seperate the bubbles to be able to have them individiually in the film.
